Introduction to Investing Strategies
Welcome to our Stock Market Investing Strategy guide. This was challenging to write because there are so many strategies to choose from and each can be as simple or complex as the person using it. We wanted to make sure we provided enough information for you to start investing with confidence but not so much that you fall asleep before you finish the guide. As a beginner, the most important advice we can give you is that you should keep it simple. You don’t have to be a sophisticated investor to invest well. In fact, it is often easier for beginners because they haven’t yet formed any bad habits.
To be a successful investor you must follow a few general guidelines. We’re going to introduce you to some of the traits and habits that nearly all successful investors share regardless of their strategy. This is a very important part of the guide, you can skip over some of the strategies but please don’t skip over the 10 Basic Investing Principles section. The greatest stumbling block for most beginners is that they are looking for a way to get rich quick, but investing is about long-term wealth building, it’s not the lotto. After you understand (and hopefully adhere to) these basic principles, it’s just a matter of fully understanding your strategy and learning to implement it well.
Since this is supposed to be an introduction we have to limit the content, so let’s start with a breakdown of what we included in this guide and how it’s organized. Before we wrote the first word we knew that we wanted to pick two of our favorite strategies and teach you enough to start investing. For several other popular strategies, we wanted to provide a broad overview so that you understand the major concepts and goals of each followed by enough detail to help you decide if it’s one you’d like to learn more about. You’ll get a full review of our two favorite strategies, and don’t worry if it turns out that you prefer one of the others that we only summarize. We have tons of information on our site about those strategies as well, we just couldn’t fit it all into an introductory guide.
